3 Week Old Box Braids
So it has been 3 weeks since I did my box braids and I love the low maintenance of it. I choose not to do the poetic braids because I did not know how the curls would look with jumbo braids. I co wash it every week and perform a deep conditioning every other week(which has only been once hehe). I also moisturize my hair twice daily with jojoba oil and cantu shea butter which also adds shine. I wear it in a high bun most of the time but sometimes I do switch up the styles...I planned on leaving this protective style for about 6-8 more weeks before removing them for another style. But I want to see how long I can keep it in and it still look decent....check out the pics

Tips I Found Helpful For Transitioners
So going through this transition for about 5 months now and everyday I am combing the internet for tips on maintaining the two textures when transitioning.
The most vital part of growing any texture of hair long, is to keep it moisturized. Never let hair strands become dry. This causes damage in the form of split ends, breakage, and hair loss.
Choose hair moisturizers that do not contain mineral oil, petroleum, and sulfate. These ingredients dry the hair shaft, making it weak and brittle. Choose natural hair care products when possible.
A rule of thumb when deciding on when to moisturize hair, is to moisturize when ever it's dry. Some people find that once in the morning and once at night is suffice, while others may only need to do this once a day.

Hair Regimen
So my hair regimen changed since transitioning because I am now taking care of two textures rather than one. Before, I would just wash my hair, condition it and that would be it. I realize that was not enough. Here is a list of products I use for my regimen:
- aphogee shampoo
- Envia hydrating shampoo
- Tresemme anti breakage shampoo
- I combine all three into one bottle and use it as my primary shampoo
- I wash my hair every week
- Cantu Shea Butter rinse out conditioner
- Garnier Fructis sleek and shine conditioner
- Envia hydrating conditioner
- I combine all three into one bottle and use it as my primary conditioner
- I also use this when I am co-washing(washing hair with conditioner only) every week
- Garnier Fructis sleek and shine leave in conditioner
- after washing and co-washing
- Aphogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor
- Every other week
- Shea, Almond, Coconut, Jojoba, and Macadamia Oil and Africa's Best Triple Repair
- Used for deep conditioning once a week
- Cantu Shea Butter grow strong strengthening treatment
- used after deep conditioning
- Growth Repair and Doo Groo Mega Thinning
- Used on protective styles and edges
- JBCO(Jamaican Black Castor Oil)
- Used twice a week, sometimes more if I remember

Hey ya'll
First welcome to my blog.
My name is Rosa..Ms. S for short and I am taking a journey (yaaaay!!) I love traveling and this one will be the longest one i've taken thus far....that is because I am transitioning.
I've started transitioning since Sept 2011. I don't know how I came to the conclusion of wanting to become au natural but I think I can do it. I've watched countless videos of people making it and others who just could not tolerate the two textures. I have been through that stage of wondering if I can do it (yes after 3 months I started to wonder) but I know that there are many protective styles to help with this issue. So anywho take a peek at my Sept-Dec 2011 pictures of my hair as it goes through the transitioning stages. I will continue to watch videos, upload my faves and share any new tricks I've found.
